I create, as an embrace of beauty, in the world and myself.
Beauty that can lie in the “pretty” as well as in the “ugly”. My work tries to explore both.
I create, as a response to the Absurd; I do not see a particular purpose to life, no grand narratives, no higher goal. However, I do see an attempt, by myself and others, to assign meaning to life. To come to terms with our existence and find ways to live in this world, beneficial to ourselves, and maybe even to others. It is that attempt, that beauty, that I examine and expose in my art.
I reject cynicism, apathy and judgment. I do leave open the possibility of exploring and questioning these notions in my art.
I create by questioning, by looking for the right questions. I am an explorer, not a rhetorician. I explore beauty and meaning, in reality and imagination. In stories and in experiences, that connect to others’ stories and experiences. And thereby create new narratives.
I strive to create art that is interactive and playful, disruptive and [thought] provoking, intimate and connecting, and above all experiential and awe-inspiring.
I create by connecting. I create by collaborating. I create by co-creating.
I embrace process, and welcome outcome, the product, as a logical consequence of that. In the activity of designing a process, I adhere to the idea of designing growth, experiment, and change.
I believe that every day is a miniature, that can be sketched and colored with the shapes and colors of our souls.
There are one phrase and one word that I want to live and create by:
I do not know. Therefore I am compassionate.
