head of school, 2022-2023

As the Head of School at Kampala Film School, situated within Kampala University [Uganda], I had the opportunity to take my journey in education and media production to new heights.

As the senior academic officer at the school, I orchestrated a comprehensive overhaul of the program curriculum, ensuring its alignment with contemporary industry standards and pedagogical best practices. This involved a thorough redesign of course syllabi to seamlessly integrate learning outcomes, assessment strategies, and instructional design. Embracing the digital age, I spearheaded the implementation of an online learning environment using Google Classroom, fostering accessibility and engagement for students.

Ensuring academic rigor and quality assurance was important. I led the development and implementation of robust assessment rubrics, marking criteria, and quality assurance procedures, guaranteeing fairness and excellence in evaluation through rigorous moderation processes.

Central to my approach was the promotion of active, student-centered learning methodologies. Through tailored teacher trainings, classroom observations, and individual coaching sessions, I instilled a culture of dynamic pedagogy among faculty members.

Moreover, recognizing the importance of industry integration, I revitalized connections with the local film and television industry, providing students with invaluable real-world insights and opportunities. Additionally, I initiated international collaborations, broadening horizons and enriching the educational experience for all stakeholders.

At Kampala Film School, my mission was clear: to nurture the next generation of Ugandan media professionals and media educators, empowering them to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.
