At Leraar24, an internet platform and narrowcasting channel by national broadcaster NTR, I developed and directed narrative segments specifically designed for primary, secondary, and vocational educators. This role was foundational in bridging the gap between professional broadcast journalism and the practical needs of the classroom. By translating complex educational goals into accessible human-interest narratives, I refined my ability to produce content that serves as a direct tool for professional development and instructional improvement.
A segment about Indy, a child with Down syndrome, that learns to speak, by learning to read.
My process involved transforming pre-researched briefs into audiovisual scripts that aligned with the platform’s pedagogical mission. Operating often as a self-shooting director, I managed the end-to-end production lifecycle, from on-location cinematography to final post-production refinements. This required a high level of narrative coherence and factual accuracy, ensuring that the final segments provided clear, actionable insights for the teaching community.
A segment about misconceptions in teaching physics.
The subject matter of these segments, which often covered differentiated instruction, culturally sensitive education, and advanced classroom management, deeply informed my own understanding of pedagogical frameworks. This experience was a critical precursor to my later leadership roles, where I have coached faculty on the quality of their instructional design and the optimization of their teaching materials for digital environments. By utilizing broadcast journalism principles to facilitate knowledge transfer, I helped create a library of digital pedagogy that empowered teachers to enhance their own practice.
