As the Head of School at Kampala Film School, situated within Kampala University in Uganda, I directed the academic and operational strategy of the institution. My primary objective was to modernize the educational framework to meet both international pedagogical standards and the specific demands of the local media industry. This role allowed me to apply my background in instructional design to a high-level leadership context, moving beyond classroom instruction into full-scale institutional architecture.

In my capacity as the senior academic officer, I led a comprehensive overhaul of the program curriculum. This process involved a thorough redesign of course syllabi to integrate clear learning outcomes with targeted assessment strategies. To support this transition, I managed the implementation of an online learning environment using Google Classroom, which increased accessibility and allowed for more consistent engagement between faculty and students.

Ensuring academic rigor through quality assurance was a central pillar of my tenure. I developed and implemented robust assessment rubrics and marking criteria, guaranteeing excellence in evaluation through rigorous moderation processes. These systems provided a fair and transparent framework for both students and staff, elevating the overall academic standing of the school.

A major component of my work focused on the professional development of the faculty. I moved away from traditional lecturing styles toward active, student-centered learning methodologies. This shift was achieved through a structured program of teacher training, regular classroom observations, and individual coaching sessions. By establishing these feedback loops, I helped create a more dynamic and responsive pedagogical culture across all departments.

Recognizing the necessity of professional integration, I revitalized connections with the Ugandan film and television industry. These partnerships provided students with direct insights into current production workflows and created pathways for real-world experience. Furthermore, I initiated international collaborations that broadened the institutional perspective and enriched the educational environment for all stakeholders. My mission at Kampala Film School was to equip the next generation of media professionals and educators with the critical and technical tools needed to thrive in a global landscape.
